Dolphin Stadium To Turn Pink

Dolphin Stadium will turn Pink for the Women in League Round in support of breast cancer awareness on Saturday 17th August. Hundreds of junior players will gather for the Annual Junior March Past however this year, for the first time, players will have the option of purchasing pink socks to wear with proceeds of each sale going to local organisation Zonta Redcliffe.

Zonta volunteers work with the Redcliffe Hospital Oncology unit to supply breast care cushions, drain bags and turbans for breast cancer patients. Pink Dolphins t-shirts will be available for sale and profits from the sale of the shirts will also be donated to Zonta.

Dolphins Marketing and Sponsorship Manager Tomara Spreadborough said the initiative is an important one to the Dolphins. “We have a couple of junior mums who have been undergoing treatment for breast cancer this year. They have been very strong advocates of increasing awareness of the importance of early detection, including for younger women. That’s why we want to dedicate the Junior March Past event to promoting the early detection message,” she said.

The Intrust Super Cup team will put their support behind the message by wearing commemorative jerseys for their Round 21 Match against the Central Queensland Capras which will kick off at 6pm.
