Redcliffe State High School Rugby League Program Open

Redcliffe State High School is offering opportunities for students entering Years 7, 8 and 9 to participate in the Rugby League Program in 2019. The program aims to develop skills while learning about all aspects of the game and is a pre-cursor to the Senior School Program of Excellence in years 10, 11 and 12.

Program Director Scott Murray said the program is one of the fastest growing in schoolboy rugby league. “It’s a supportive environment that promotes development on and off the sporting field. Participants get to advance their skill levels while getting an understanding of the rules, tactics and physical requirements of rugby league.”

Graduates of the Redcliffe State High Program of Excellence include current Village Motors Dolphins Josh Beehag and Nathan Watts, along with NRL players Josh McGuire and Daly Cherry-Evans.

Mr Murray said being admitted into the program is not limited to those already performing at a high level. “More importantly we are looking for a range of qualities, including self-discipline, self-motivation, willingness to be part of a team and a passion about rugby league.”
