A perfect Saturday for our young Dolphins

It was a perfect day for footy at Kayo Stadium on Saturday as our junior teams ran out for the first round of their season against Souths Logan Magpies.

It was a big day for the Village Motors Dolphins as they took out all three junior statewide age groups.

In the under-16s Cyril Connell Challenge, it was a slow start to the match with the first try being scored in the 19th minute of play.

The game remained a tight one throughout but it was the Redcliffe Dolphins who came out victorious 16-10.

The second match-up of the day was the Harvey Norman under-19s women who came out looking strong.

The scores were locked up at halftime at eight points apiece, but the Redcliffe Dolphins took out the match 28-12. The win was a massive confidence booster for the girls to build on their season.

The last match of the day was the under-18s Auswide Bank Mal Meninga Cup, and the boys came out with a bang to show this year’s competition what they are made of.

The Dolphins scored in just the second minute of play and the points didn’t stop there.

The Dolphins raced out to a 32-6 lead at halftime over last year’s premiers and maintained their form in the second half to produce an impressive 56-14 victory.

Next week is a bye round for the Dolphins but the three teams will be back in action in round three against Tweed Seagulls at Piggabeen Sports Complex, Tweed Heads on Saturday March 4.
