If you know Cameron Cullen you know that he doesn’t do anything by halves. With his 2019 season tainted by a season long injury which happened pre-season, he didn’t let it knock him down. Instead it turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
“I basically loaded up a massive right-foot step and my foot stayed still and my knee kept going – I just blew out my knee.
“I think I did everything you can do, I did an ACL, MCL, PCL… everything with a CL in it, you can guarantee I did it.” – Cameron Cullen
Cameron had to come to terms pretty quickly that he would spend the rest of the season on the sideline cheering on his team who made it to the final rounds, which in itself is a mental battle that he hadn’t yet had to face in his entire playing career.
In and interview with QRL Cameron described the time off the field as “[it was] a good thing to go through” in hindsight.
“Football has been a part of my life since I was six and (I was) told that I have to have a full year away from it.
“It’s funny, but it was good, to be honest. That’s probably a weird thing to say, but it was a good thing to go through, I guess, now that I am out the other side.
“I try not to look back too much, I just had a couple of months rest and cleared my head and then got back into the club and started ripping in.
“It was a real mental battle and I have come through and I am keen as, I am like a little kid again and I am ready to play footy.”
In 2020, not only is Cameron’s company, Image Property a major sponsor of the Dolphins Juniors, Cameron has been named as the the Dolphin’s Intrust Super Cup team Captain.
