The Dolphins are pleased to announce that the Brighton Roosters Junior Rugby League Club has re-signed as a Junior Affiliate Club of the Dolphins for the next three years.
General Manager of Football Grand Cleal said there were several key elements to the Affiliation arrangement. “Firstly, we provide an opportunity for players to be selected to participate in our Development Programs which is our first step in the pathway to representative football. Equally as important, we provide development opportunities to Coaches. There’s also a cash benefit for the Clubs as thanks to the Redcliffe Leagues Club, we can offer our Junior Affiliate Clubs a sponsorship which may assist with purchasing uniforms, equipment or with ground maintenance,” he said.
The Affiliate Program is driven by the Club’s commitment to develop strong partnerships with local junior clubs. “Our purpose is to foster and develop the game of rugby league and we would not realise the success we have without a strong junior base.” Cleal said the Affiliate Program means that kids can play for their local Club, but have access to opportunities such as the Dolphins Development Program and when the time comes, Representative teams.
“A great example of our Affiliate Program in action is Tyson Gamble, who is now signed with NRL Club Wests Tigers. Tyson played for one of our affiliate clubs, was part of our Development Program, played Cyril Connell and Mal Meninga Cup, Colts, BRL and ultimately first grade for the Dolphins. Half way through his first year in the Intrust Super Cup, he was offered an NRL contract. This is the outcome we strive for,” Cleal said.
During 2018, two Dolphins BRL fixtures were played at the Brighton Roosters, something the Dolphins hope to continue in 2019.
