Redcliffe have continued their winning run in the Hostplus Cup with a resounding victory over the Central Queensland Capras to claim the Ian Thinee Shield in Round 10.

With the season approaching the halfway mark, the Dolphins made a statement against their fellow NRL Dolphins affiliates, coming home from Rockhampton with a 36-16 win.

In one of the most complete performances of the year so far, Redcliffe maintained the momentum throughout the entire 80 minutes, keeping the Capras at a safe distance throughout.

The first points came through centre Montel Lisala, who capitalised off a Capras error to score, with the mistake coming from a Joshua James cross-field kick in the 3rd minute.

And Redcliffe didn’t take their foot off the pedal from here. Seven minutes later – with both Sam Elliott and Jordan Plath coming close to scoring in the same set – fullback Kyle Coghill danced through the opposition and extended the Dolphins’ lead.

Elliott – earlier denied – wasn’t going to miss another opportunity to add to the scoreboard, stretching out to plant the ball down over the line at the midway point of the opening stanza.

The floodgates were well and truly open, with Lisala then nabbing his second four-pointer just six minutes later.

With only one try to the Capras in the 34th minute, the Dolphins went into the break up 20-4.

While the Dolphins have had some lapses throughout their games this year, they were quick to show that wasn’t going to be the case this time around, with prop Riley Price scoring shortly after halftime.

Price broke out of a tackle to reach forward and slam the ball down in the 44th minute.

Central Queensland then went back-to-back in the 50th and 56th minutes before Dom De Stradis collected a Karl Oloapu kick to score.

Redcliffe’s final try came in the 75th minute through centre Jude Saldanha, sealing the win at 36-16.

The Dolphins remain in second place on the competition ladder behind the Sunshine Coast Falcons.

In Round 11, Redcliffe will take on the Brisbane Tigers at Totally Workwear Stadium on Saturday May 30.
