Dolphins suffer tough loss ahead of bye weekend

The Redcliffe Dolphins have set the stage for a thrilling showdown at Kayo Stadium in two weeks, as they hunt for redemption following their Round 16 loss to the Souths Logan Magpies.

Away from home turf, the Dolphins – with debutants Joven Gyemore and Troy Hanita-Paki in the line-up – were handed some tough lessons against the Magpies, going down 32-10 at Davies Park.

With three tries coming from Souths Logan in the final 20 minutes of the match, Redcliffe certainly showed plenty of heart and spirit to try to stay in it, but struggled to bounce back.

Redcliffe’s two tries came on either side of the halftime break, with five-eighth Kyle Coghill crossing in the 39th minute and centre Jude Saldanha adding four to the board in the 45th minute.

Saldanha was particularly impressive and created a number of opportunities throughout the 80 minutes.

While it was a tough loss, the Dolphins will get a week off with the bye. They are then presented a strong opportunity to bounce back when they host the competition-leading Sunshine Coast Falcons in Round 18 at Kayo Stadium.

Only three points separate the Dolphins and Falcons on the ladder at this stage.
