The Redcliffe Dolphins had a mixed weekend on the field, with strong performances in the Mal Meninga Cup and Harvey Norman Under 19s competitions, while our Hostplus Cup squad fell short in a pre-season trial against the Norths Devils.
Mal Meninga (Under 19s):
The Mal Meninga squad put on a clinic against the Western Clydesdales, securing a resounding 60-14 victory at the Toowoomba Sports Ground. The young Dolphins ran in 11 tries, with standout performances from Jake Carsburg, who crossed the line twice within the opening seven minutes, and Noah Fien, who not only scored two tries but also slotted eight conversions. The dominant win showcased the depth and talent emerging from the Dolphins’ junior pathways.
Harvey Norman Under 19s (Women’s):
The Dolphins’ Under 19 women’s team also enjoyed success, defeating the Clydesdales 26-16. After trailing 12-4 at halftime, the Dolphins surged back with five tries, including decisive scores from Mya Sautia, Deleni Paitai, and Narli Nicholson in the second half. Emily Wilson’s accurate boot added three conversions to seal the win.
Hostplus Cup Trial Match:
In a pre-season trial, the Dolphins’ Hostplus Cup side fell to the Norths Devils, 32-18. Despite the loss, the trial offered some tough lessons as the team gears up for the 2025 season.
The Dolphins’ junior representative results highlight a promising future for the club, as they continue to build momentum leading into the season.
