Players from both the Redcliffe junior rugby league and other local clubs will benefit from a community grant from the Moreton Bay Regional Council.
The Redcliffe club used a Local Community Support Grant to install an ice machine at their base in March this year.
Over 5000 junior players, both female and male, will benefit from the installation of the machine.
Redcliffe Football Operations Manager Steve Crawford said the ice machine was an important piece of infrastructure to be provided at their junior fields.
“The purchase of bags of ice can be a restrictive cost for all junior clubs,” he said.
“Ice is very important in first aid and the treatment of soft-tissue injuries that can be picked up when playing sport.
“The ice machine will also assist by making it easier to keep water and drinks cool, with keeping young players hydrated imperative when playing the sport.
“This machine will mean we can supply ice to not only our teams, but also visiting teams as well.
“We thank the Moreton Bay Regional Council for their contribution to the cost and installation of the ice machine.”
