The Warriors have felt the love from their supporters at Moreton Daily Stadium and are aiming to make them just as happy as they did in last week’s win over the Broncos.
The Warriors will host the North Queensland Cowboys at the family-friendly kick-off timeslot of 6pm this Friday at Moreton Daily Stadium.
The Warriors have made the Redcliffe-based stadium their home for the first half of the 2022 NRL season.
And their opening game there was a success with a sold-out crowd of almost 10,000 sending the Broncos back to Brisbane with a 20-6 loss.
It gave Redcliffe locals an early insight into what a victory be like when they have their own NRL team, the Dolphins, playing at Moreton Daily Stadium next year.
And the Warriors are aiming to replicate the win for the crowd this Friday against the Cowboys.
“I’m sure they’d like us to go out there and get a win as well – it goes hand in hand doesn’t it?” said Warriors’ veteran half Shaun Johnson.
“We don’t get to play at Mount Smart (in Auckland), but I thought the way Warriors’ supporters across Brisbane came out whether they were local or had to drive an hour or two to come out to show their support for us – I know as a playing group we certainly appreciated it
“When we were told it was a sell-out, we were all sort of thinking it’s all going to be Broncos’ supporters and we’ll probably get booed, but at least it will be a mad atmosphere.
“To run out and feel the reception that it was just not that at all, we were well and truly supported.
“It was like – man, these guys are behind us.
“Hopefully we can go out there this weekend, put on an even better performance than we did last week. Just give them something to cheer about.”
